Home Remedies for Acne and Acne Scars

   Two vitamins, namely, niacin and vitamin A have been used successfully to treat acne. Vitamin therapy should comprise the intake of 100 mg niacin, three times daily, and 50,000 international units of vitamin a, three times daily, Vitamin E, 400 mg, should be taken once daily. Continue this therapy for a month.

   Zinc is another effective remedy in the area of nutrition that seems to offer new promise of help for acne. It has shown dramatic results in some cases. Take zinc in thereapeutic doses of 50 mg three times a day. Zinc is available in tablet and in capsule form. In tablet form it is available in Zinfet 200 mg ( Yash Pharma Bombay) The patient can take a quarter tablet so as to get 50  mg of zinc. In capsule form, zinc is available as ( Tam-Pharmaceuticals). One- fourth of the powder inside the capsule can be taken as a single dose. The patient can take a dose of 50 mg daily upto one month or till there is noticeable improvement and then reduce the dose to 25 mg.

   Homemade acns treatment with orange peel has been found very effective. Pound the orange peel with water on a piece stone and apply on acne effected areas.

   Garlic has been used successfully to cure acne. Rub with raw garlic several times a day. Garlic is known to cure the toughest of acne problems. The external use of garlic help clear the skin of spots, pimples and boils. To cure acne further, eat three seeds of raw garlic once daily for a month. This purifies the blood stream and ensures basic cleansing of blood & keeps acne away.

   A teaspoon of coriander juice, mixed with a pinch of turmeric powder, is another effective home remedy for pimples and  blackheads. Apply mixture on the face after thoroughly washing it every night before bed. Use mint juice in a similar manner as coriander juice.

   Fenugreek is another useful remedy for acne. Make a paste of fenugreek leaves and apply over the face every night before going to bed. Wash off with warm water in the morning. This prevents pimples and blackheads.

   Grated cucumber applied over the face, eyes, and neck for fifteen to twenty minutes has been found effective. It is the best tonic for your complexion. Its regular use prevents pimples and blackheads.

   Eating a balanced and health diet  devoid of excessive starch, sugar, and fatty foods.

   Hot fomentation to open pores and rinsing the skin with cold water after squeezing waste is an effective remedy.

Home Remedies For Whooping Cough

   Garlic is one the most effective remedies for whooping cough. The syrup of garlic should be given in doseseof five drops to a teaspoon, two or three times a day, for treating this condition. It should be given more often if the coughing spells are frequent and violent.

   Ginger is another effective remedy for whooping cough. A teaspoon of fresh ginger huice, mixed with a cup of fenugreek decoction and honey to taste, is an excellent diaphoretic. The fenugreek decoction can be made by boilingone teaspoon of seeds in 250 ml of water till it is reduced to half.

   Syrup prepared by mixing a teaspoon of fresh radish juice with an equal quantity of honey and a little rock salt, is beneficial in the treatment of this disease. It should be given twice daily.

   The herb calamus is another valuable remedy for whooping cough. A pinch of the powder of the roasted herb should be given with a teaspoon of honey. Being antispasmodic, it prevents severe bouts of cough. for smaller children, the dose must be proportionately smaller.



Home Remedies for Sunburn

   Apply aloe vera or vinager on the affected skin. it will stop inflammation and pain. Avoid products made from benzocaine, lidocaine and petroleum jelly. Rub mustard oil on the affected skin and allow to it dry, this will take out the heat from the skin. Cut fresh cucumber slices and rub them on the affected ares. Before taking a bath, add some baking powder to the bath water, this will help to soothe the burnt skin. Apply lavender oil or peppermint oil on the burnt skin. Apply apple cider vinegar to the burnt skin using a cotton ball. Take herbal bath, put a few drops of chamomille and lavender essentail oils in bath water. Take epsom salt or ice compress. Grate some potatoes and apply them on the burnt skin. Starch from potatoes will soothe the burn.   

   Antioxidants like vitamin E and vitamin C are very helpful in curing sunburn. Hence include vitamin E and vitamin C in your diet. Tomato is a good antiioxidant. Eat good quality protein foods like meat, egg, fish, chicken and on. They will supply essential vitamins and minerals. To keep the body hydrated and compensate for the lost fluids. 



Home Remedies for Swimmer Ear

    Mild swimmer’s ear can also be treated with a few drops of white vinager placed in both ears. Put a few drops of vinager in one ear and leave it in the ear canal for about five minutes before turning the ear down in oder to drain the solution.It is advisable to repeat this twice a day for three days. It is most effective against any fungal or bacterial infection as the acetic acid inhibits the growth of bacteria.

   When water clogs the ears, put three or four drops apple cider vinager, diluted in equal parts with water or alcohol, after showering or swimming. This help prevent future infection.

   Take some baby oil, heat it and as it warms pour into the ears with the help of a ear dropper and place a cotton ball to avoid draining the oil.

   Use the hair dryer to evaporate the water pour moleecules in the ear. Set it to warm and sway it across the ear as it blow dries your ear. The warm air will enable evaporation of any trapped water.

   Mix equal parts water, peroxide, and white vinager. Use an eye dropper to put a few drops in ear. Let it stay in the ear for a minute. Tip head to let the solution drain. Put a piece of cotton in ear. It is advisable to do this before bedtime.

   Tomatoes are a home remedy for diabetes because of its low carbohydrate contents. it is very good for diabetic patients and for those who want to reduce their body weight. It is said to be very effective in controlling the percentage of sugar in the urine of diabetes patients.

   Bilberry and Ginkobiloba are some effective herbs that cure diabetes.

   Eating Gular (gymnema) cure diabetes. It lower down high sugars levels in the blood and also leads to proper function of insulin.

   Blueberry leaves are very effective in controlling diabetes and very effective in the cure of various eyes disease.

   Leaves of sweet potatoes when taken with ash gourd or when taken with any herbal tea are effective in curry diabetes. Mix 4-5 leaves of sweet potatoes and 1 tablespoon ash gourd in a glass of water and then allow it to boil. Strain the mixture and take this herbal tea anytime of the day.

   The leaves of holy basil have been found beneficial in the treatment of stress. They are regarded as an anti-stress agent. Recent studieshave shown that the leaves protect against significantly. It has been suggested that evenhealthypersons should chew twelve leaves of basil twice  a day, morning and evening, forpreventing stress.

  The herb sage is considered valuable in stress. A tea prepared from the leaves of thisplant should be given in the treatment of this condition.This tea is prepared by pouring a cup of boiling water over one teaspoon of dried sage  leaves. The water should be covered and infused for several minutes. It should then be strained and sweetened, with honey, if desired. In the case of fresh leaves a tablespoon of coarsely chopped sage leaves should be used and tea prepared in the same way.

   Certain nutrients have proved beneficial in relieving stress. These  are vitamins A and B, and minerals such as calcium, potassium and magnestum which reduce the feeling of irrtability and anxiety.  Vitamin A is found in green and yellow vegetables. Some of the valuable sources of vitamin B are cashew nuts, green leafy vegetables, yeast, sprouts, and bananas. An element of vitamin B complex, panothenic acid, is especially important in preventing stress. It has a deep effect on adrenal glands and the immune system, an adequate amount of this vitamin, along with vitamin A, can help prevent many of the changes caused by stress. Potassium deficiencies are associated with breathlessness, fatigue, insomnia, and low blood sugar. Potassium is essential for healthy heart muscles. Nuts and whole grains are good sources of this mineral. Calcium is a natural sedative. Deficienies can cause fatigue, nervousness and tension. Daily products, eggs, almunds, and soya beans are rich sources of this mineral. Magnesium is known as nature’stranquilliser and is associated with the prevention of the heart attacks. It is found in many fruits, vegetables, seeds, dates, and prunes.

   There are many foods which help in meeting the demands of stress and should be taken regularly by the patients. These include yogurt, blackstrapmolasses, seeds, and sprouts. yogurt is rich in vitamins A,d and the B complex group. It relieves migraine, insomnia and cramps associated with menstruation. Blackstrap molasses, a by- product of the sugar refining process, is rich in iron and B vitamins. it guards against anaemia and is good for heart disease. Seeds such as alfaifa, sunflower, pumpkins, and spout are rich in calcium and quite effective as deterrents of listessness and anxiety.

   Musk Melon is one of the most effective home remedies for thinness. It the melon cure is properly carriedout, a rapid gainweight can usually be achieved. In this mode of treatment, only musk melons are taken three times daily for 40 days or more. In the beginning only three kilograms of melonsaretaken daily for three days. Then the quantity is increased by one kilogram daily till it is sufficient to appease the hunger. Only the sweet and fresh fruits of the best variety are used in the treatment.

   The mango-milk-cure is also an ideal treatment for thinness. For this mode of treatment, ripe and sweet mangoes should always be selected. They should be taken three times a day- morning, afternoon, and evening. Two medium sized mangoes should be taken first, and then followed by a glass of milk. Mango is rich in sugar but deficient in protein. On the other hand, milk is rich in protein but deicient in sugar. The deficieny of one is made up by the other. Mango thus combines very well with milk and an exclusive mango-milk diet taken for a least one month, will lead to improvement in health and vigour and gain in weight.

  Figs are an excellant remedy for increasing weight in case of thinness. The high percentage of the rapidly assimlable sugar in this fruit make it a strengthening and fattening food. Three dried figs soaked in water should be taken twice daily.

   Raisins are a good food for those who wish to gain weight. Thirty grams a day may be taken for this purpose.

   Nutrients which help to keep the nerves relaxed are of utmost importance as nervousness causes all muscles to became tense, and the energy which goes into the tensing wastefully uses up a great deal of food. Although all vitamins and minerals are required for relaxation, the most important once are vitamin D and B6, calcium, and magnesium. The richest sources of vitamin D are milk, cod- liver oil, and rays of the sun. Calcium is supplied by milk and yogurt. Magnesium can be obtained from green leafy vegetables such as spinach, turnip, radish, and beets tops. These vegetables should preferably, be taken in salad form or should be lightly cooked.
