The diabetic person with type 1 diabetes may need to take medication all their life. but this is not true with type 2 diabetes people.
In Adult Onset Diabetes which is also known as type 2 diabetes, the body is producing insufficient amount of insulin for its needs. This may be due to a combination of many factors such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, unhealthy eating habits and lack of proper exercise.
For these people it is essential that they trace the reason why they have became diabetic. Once they have the main reason identified, they can work towards its elimination. In many cases as they cope with the main reason contributing to diabetes, they will find that the symptoms of the disease seem to reduce.
With constant monitoring and consistent effort, it is possible to completely cure diabetes if diagnosed in time. This elimination of free radicals which helps to control diabetes will have to be an ongoing process and even after the insulin levels have normalized, the person will have to be very careful.

This means that we get a major portion of our body’s fiber requirement from the fruits and vegetables that we eat. We also get fiber from whole grain foods, which are again plant based.
The fiber is essential to help cleanse the intestines and to keep our digestive track healthy. Fiber also helps to hold water in the body so that we don’t get dehydrated. Adequate fiber in the diet will ensure that you never get constipated or have problems with your bowel motion.
Getting enough fiber is clearly important for the proper functioning of the human body. How does one get a fiber rich diet? By planning to get enough plant based foods in the day. Getting five helpings of fruits and vegetables in the day is a good way to start.
You can ensure that you have one fruit at breakfast time., followed by a fruit and vegetables each at lunch and dinner time. Try and add plant based carbohydrates which are also rich in fiber. Eat whole grain pasta instead of white bread. Make the changes small and sustainable.

To understand how type two diabetes can be prevented you need to know how the disease sets in and what damage it does. Type 2 diabetes is also called adult onset diabetes. This is because the disease slowly finds a foothold in the life of an adult thanks to the kind of lifestyle he leads. Which is why it is also called a lifestyle disease.
The unhealthy eating patterns of consuming junk food and not getting enough fresh fruits and vegetables, causes the body to lose nutritional food sources. Then the insulin generated by the body is not enough to help digest all the glucose that the fatty foods we eat are dumping into the blood stream. The rise in blood sugar levels are the first indication of the person having type 2 diabetes.
The easiest way to prevent type 2 diabetes would be to ensure that you ate a healthy diet. And even if you did over eat you got enough physical exercise to ensure that your body would burn out all the excess glucose that it was given. It is all a matter of managing your body’s health. That is why type 2 diabetes is a disease which can be prevented.

The first food guide pyramid was published in Demark in 1978. It was later adopted by the American Department of Agriculture or USDA updated the food guide pyramid. It was also renamed MYPyramid to distinguish it from its former predecessor.
There is however a growing awareness that the food guide is not right for everyone. Different people at various stages of their life need different types of food to stay healthy. Thus the food pyramid for moms is very different from the ones that their kids should follow.
So it stands to reason that the food pyramid for those suffering from diabetes is also different. The diabetes food pyramid divides food into six groups such as grains, starches, vegetables, fruits, milk and dairy, meat and meat substitutes and the last group is of fats, sweets and alcohol.
Grains are the largest group at the base of the pyramid and fats are the smallest. The servings in each group can total up to anything from 1600 calories to 2800 calories in the day. Of course the exact number of calories you need consume will dictate your serving size.

However getting fresh fruits and vegetables every day is not a viable option if you are surviving the economic crisis on the tight budget. This is why you need to plan your meals well ahead of time and shop sensibly for the ingredients.
Makw sure that nothing you buy goes to waste and that all the fruits and vegetables get consumed. A pre meal plan for the week can ensure that vegetable portions get used judiciously. Also buy smaller portions of fruits so that they do not spoil before you can eat them.

Diabetes is a disease associated with the pancreas. The pancreas gland is situated below the liver and contains special cells known as the beta cells of the islets of langerhans. It is these cells that secrete insulin. Insulin is a hormone which helps the body use up the glucose in the blood stream effectively.
In a diabetic person the insulin is either not secreted at all or is secreted in a less amount than needed. This makes the blood glucose level rise as they do not get used up. The high level of blood sugars retained in the body results in a disease which is known as diabetes mellitus.
Diabetes mellitus usually remains a chronic condition for those diagnosed with it. They can control the severity of the illness by making sure that the blood glucose levels do not rise in their body. This is best done by restricting the diet and exercising regularly.
Since diabetes mellitus is hyperglycermia the sugar intake of the person needs to be controlled. Also the fat consumed needs to be controlled as it collects in the blood stream and aggravates the disease. This does not mean that the person should eat no fat and sugar.
Fat and sugar are needed for energy to help the body do its daily work, but the amount that can be eaten must be controlled.
