Superfoods For Depression

When you are frequently down and out and feeling low and miserable it may be a good idea to see what you are eating. Depression in the brain is caused primarily by chemical imbalances and a healthy diet can cure those imbalances and as a result depression.
Eating the right food is just as important as eating it at the right time. If you do not eat at regular intervals during the day the serotonin level in your brain will be imbalanced. As serotonin is the chemical which stimulates calmness in our body, the imbalance will make you feel off and low.
The three main food groups which help keep the brain healthy and fight depression are foods with carbohydrates, food rich in omega 3 fatty acids and foods that have vitamin E. Carbohydrates are a great source to keep a person’s serotonin production level up. So eat enough carbohydrates with each meal.
Foods richs in omega 3 fatty acids help in keeping the heart healthy and as many of them are rich in minerals as well. Salmon contains mineral called selenium in addition to omega 3 and this is a great antioxidant. Vitamin E is also a good sources of antioxidants.
