Beware! Sodas Could Be Harming You!!!

31 08 2011

If you are one of the million people who drink diet soda because  you think it’s healthier or you think it’s lower in sugar then you need to listen up. It’s becoming clearer and clearer that diet sodas are worse for us then the regular full sugared varieties.

Soda is not  a healthy drink. Regular sodas contain high amounts of sugar, phosphoric acid and the dark ones contain the carcinogen caramel coloring. Nearly every dentist agrees that drinking soda increase the destruction of teeth.

Just one regular soda a day can lead to a 24 pound weight gain. For people who will are at risk for diabetes, this is about 40 g of sugars in your system without the benefit of any nutrients.

This is why people think that drinking diet soda is healthier. The lack of sugar means the risk of decaying our teeth goes away, the pounds will go away and the risk of diabetes goes down. That’s not the case. In fact, new studies are showing that people who drink diet soda put on more weight and the risk of diabetes increases.

Most diet sodas contain the chemical aspartame. Aspartame is a chemical that within the human body breaks down to formaldehyde. We all know formaldehyde from our high school, mostly because it’s banned because it’s too toxic to be around children. Aspartame can cause liver damage and kidney damage.

Aspartame also stimulates the hormone cortisol, which is the hormone in our body that encourages fat storage. People drinking diet sodas for weight loss end up storing more fat then they lose. Sine cortisol is also a stress hormone, people who drink diet sodas have an increased risk of stress related health problems such as heart disease, high blood pressure and certain psychological issues such as depression.

Perhaps the worst part about sodas is the caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant drug. In small quantities, especially those that come from natural sources such as tea and chocolate, caffeine can help us work better, have clearer minds and reduce the risk of heart disease. Any more caffeine more than a half a can of soda or half a cup of coffee can throw off our body systems.

People who consume too much caffeine in the short-term develop jitteriness, inattentiveness, insomnia, and skin problems like flushing. In the long term the excess caffeine can damage our brains, resembling Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease, increase high blood pressure and damage the liver. And let’s not forget that caffeine dehydrates the body. You actually need to drink twice the amount of water as soda in order to counteract the dehydrating affects caffeine has on your body.

Since the average teenager consumes 30 to 40 ounces of soda every day, nearly 10 times an acceptable level, we need to get the word out about just how bad these drinks are. As an occasional treat, no more than once a day, a small glass of soda is okay to drink. But any more than that and you’re not doing your body a favor.

Golden Rules For A Healthy Lifestyle

30 08 2011

If we are to have a healthy body, it is necessary to provide it with everything it needs. The way we live and how we think about ourselves is also an important aspect of our well being. The golden rules for Healthy Life are a guideline for a well life.

    1. Be moderate ( Do Not Eat Too Much.)

   2. Do not skip breakfasts

   3. Never go out with an empty stomach

    4. Eat diverse and good quality foods

   5. Always compensate for lost fluid

   6. Respect the night’s rest

   7. You ought to be active

   8. Expose yourself to daylight and fresh air

   9. Cultivate the spirit of optimism and goodwill

Why each of these rules is important?

   1. Moderation means that we behave in a way not expose our bodies to extreme challenges, especially not for a long time. For example, we should try to avoid many harmful substances that we consume in our everyday lives, such as ( coffee, alcohol, tobacco, preservatives, flavor enhancers). Undoubtedly, it is useful to drink a  a glass of wine after a good meal, or eat a piece of chocolate when you are depressed, but no more than that.

   2. People who skip breakfast have more problems with body weight, because it disturbs natural rhythm of their metabolism.

   3. When we are hungry we are tempted to eat something. If we persevere, we will return home even hungrier and eat uncontrollably all that comes to our hand. So it’s good to always have some fresh fruits and vegetables at home.

   4. The quality of food and beverages that we intake dictates the quilt of our health. For example, fibers pure body from harmful substances, certain foods stimulate metabolism, carbohydrates are the first source of energy for muscle, and proteins as their main structural material are the most valuable source of energy. As we age our body loses calcium, bones become weak, and it is very important to take enough calcium while we are still young.

   5. Disturbance of fluid balance is one of the key reasons for the occurrence of some disease. Daily our body may lose about 10 glasses of fluid even when we do nothing. We have to catch up with this loss and the best way to do this is to consume fresh water.

   6. The only time our body is being renewed is when we are asleep. We need to have enough hours of sleep in order to benefit from it. Sleep fine and live long.

    7. Regular exercise reduces the risk of a severe disease. Studies say that four hours of exercise per week reduces the incidence of breast cancer by 66.6%. walking is good for the heart and lungs and it also improves brain function by boosting its oxygen supply.

   8. Sunlight is the source of every life. It helps our vital organs to be strong and function properly. With fresh air, we breathe in the power of nature and oxygen that is necessary in the process of burning calories, making our bodily function optimal.

   9. Most of us would want to live the same way, and eat the same food as before, and to use a pill that would magically solve their problems. However, the solution is within us. If our mind is focused on good things, then we do good things. By identifying ourselves with a successful team, we may develop the competitive spirit. The quality of our life proves to be better when there is greater harmony in our family and when we have friends. The best way to get rid of stress is to live in a simple and relaxing way.

Why is it important to apply this set of golden rules?

Drugs help the body to defeat health problems, but drugs do not cure the causes. The cause of the disease is not in the absence of drugs, but however in violation of the healthy life rules. if we are to enjoy in a healthy life, we must fight on our own by the Golden Rules for Healthy Life, which we will respect to the maximum.

79 Million Americans Have Prediabetes! And Most Do Not Know It!!!

29 08 2011

Prediabetes is a condition in which the blood sugar is higher than normal but not high enough to meet the criteria for diabetes type 2. Unless this condition is detected, a person with prediabetes will never know that his insulin is not working properly. Even though the beta cells of his pancreas will be working overtime to produce very high amounts of insulin in order to maintain normal blood sugars, he will not have any symptoms. Most people with prediabetes will develop diabetes type 2 within 10 year time frame if they do not adopt lifestyle changes. ( It takes about that long for their beta cells to wear out from the stress of having to produce so much extra insulin.) About 11% of people with prediabetes develop overt diabetes every year. People with prediabetes face 2-3 times the risk of heart attacks and strokes compared to those without it, and if and when they become diabetic, these risks increase further.

Which third of Americans adults are most likely to have prediabetes? Risk factors for this condition include excessive weight especially abdominal fat lack of exercise, being over 45 years old, having a family history of diabetes, having had diabetes when pregnant or giving birth to a large baby, having poly cystic ovary syndrome, sleeping less than five and a half hours per night, having high blood pressure, and having an abnormal cholesterol panel. The American Diabetes Association recommended testing for all people with these risk factors. The recommended cholesterol panel. The American Diabetes Association recommend testing for all people with tier risk factors. The recommended tests include a fasting sugar level, a glucose tolerance test, or a hemoglobin A1C. If you have any risk factors, please discuss conducting testing with your health care provider.

Despite the gruesome statistics, there is some good news. Progression from prediabetes to overt diabetes is not inevitable. The two primary risk factors, namely excess weight and lack of exercise, may be corrected. A person with prediabetes who will commit to eating healthy food, increasing his or her physical activity, and lose weight may reduce his or her risk of developing frank diabetes by 60% over a 10 year period. Many people are reluctant to adopt a healthy diet because they believe it is expensive, challenging and unpalatable. However, anyone can learn how to prepare delicious, healthy food appropriate for a person with prediabetes or diabetes that the entire family may enjoy. If you are unsure how to shop for appropriate ingredients or how to prepare this type of a meal, there are plenty of resources.

For people need or want to shed a few pounds and who are already eat a healthy diet and participating in regular exercise, then adding natural herbs into your diet can be a great addition to help aiding you in weight control.

In, fact the Chinese have been using herbs for medicinal purposes for over 4000 years. Today, the western medical community, who has once shunned the use of herbs for medicinal purposes, is starting to take notice of the benefits of using herbs. Herbs can not only help one to lose weight, they are also nutritionally sound and can offer a healthy, natural alternative to nourish and heal the body. Herbs can also give the body the necessary nutrients that the body does not always got through a regular diet.

However, herbs may not be a good weight loss solution for these seeking to lose a lot of weight in a short time. Some herbs do have some side effects and are not suitable for some body condition, and some should be taken carefully. As with any weight loss program or diet, caution should always be used and one should not take a large amount of herbs at a same time. Herbs should also be used in conjunction with regular diet and exercise for an effective weight loss solution.

When purchasing herbs you should always look for freshness of the herbs. Those that are loose and sold in bulk for a long time have almost no nutritional value. Instead, opt for those freeze-dried over air dried herbs as they are less likely to go bad and the freshness can remain over a longer period of time.

Since we now understand the usefulness of herbs as a weight loss remedy, let us look at a few herbs that you can use. The following are good starters to help you curb your appetite and lose weight with herbs.

Evening Primrose has been shown to be an effective source of natural alternative to help reduce cholesterol levels and help people who do not process fats correctly lose weight. Studies have shown that the psyllium granules of these seeds consumed with water before a meal can help to control a person appetite. This herb can cause an instant reduction of appetite by making the stomach feel full. This feeling can lead to less calorie and fat consumption. Queen’s flower has also been shown to be one of the most effective plant used in alternative weight control and diabetes.

SMOOTHIES…ROCK!!!!

25 08 2011

People often ask me what my favorite raw food or meal is.

   I always answer, “Smoothies,”

I’m gonna let you in on the top 3 reason that smoothies ROCK:

   1. They are easy to make: Yes, it’s true, smoothies and shakes are the easiest meals to throw together. Stocking up on a few simple food items that you can throw in a blender makes the most delicious and satisfying meal in less than 5 minutes. Smoothies add instant nutrition and energy to your day without weighing you down. Buy frozen organic fruits, have pure pressed juices, coconut milk, and almond milk on hand, along with coconut water and a favorite leafy green ( spinach or chard) and you have an instant meal. No time for green leafs? then buy a green supplement powder that gives you the boost you need. You can make smoothies for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. A great start for your day, a pick me up mid-day, or a light dinner to let you sleep peacefully. Smoothies are easy to make at home or in the office. Great for grab and go if you spend a lot of time in your car. There are no excuses as nothing will be a faster or easier meal than a smoothie.

   2. They are Highly Nutritious: We are all concerned about nutrition, and everyday knows that getting all the daily requirements can be a grueling experience for the mind and body. We all tend to over think our nutritional needs so in order to get all the nutrients we need each day, we may tend to overeat. This is not the case when making smoothies. Blending a meal together provides a great platform for super foods and supplements. A little goes along way. With a high protein nut milk, super anti- oxidants berries, high mineral super foods and supplements and enzymatic greens, we can pack a lot of nutrition into on cupful. It is important to experiment and add in new items with each smoothie. For example, morning smoothies may be a creamy protein boost with added ma ca or bee pollen. A green smoothie may have fresh, alkalizing green leaves or high protein spirulina or mineralization green algae boosts. An evening shake may have Chi seeds. There are so many ways to add digestible nutrients to your day.

   3. They are always Exciting: No matter how healthy their lifestyle, many people start getting tired of their food choices. They feel like they are in a rut and want to shake things up. The beauty of smoothies is that you will never fall into a state of boredom. Smoothies are the most diverse food to make. The possible flavor combinations are endless, it’s all about experimentation. You can create a smoothie with simple ingredients that you have in your can create a smoothie with simple ingredients that you have in your refrigerator or you can really boost them up with enhancements such as ginger, goji berries, or even Noni juice. I usually start with a base ingredient of almond milk, kefir or apple or orange juice depending on what flavor I am looking for. I try to add a little sweet with sour as I like my foods tart. I have added alkalizing lemons and apple cider vinegar to almond milk smoothies as well as goji berries to orange juice smoothies. I also had green whether it is a spirulina, green algae boost or fresh kale or chard leaves. The fun in the kitchen never stops!

Why Regular Eating Habits To Maintain A Healthy Glucose Metabolism

24 08 2011

Anyone who wants to ensure the optimum levels for glucose metabolism should regular eating habits. Consistent meal schedules as well as moderate portion sizes for each meal or snack help regulate blood sugar levels and can also help you to maintain a proper and healthy weight.

Begin your day with a nutritious breakfast. Aside from giving you the energy you’ll need until lunchtime, the first meal of the day helps you maintain steady blood sugar levels, especially after not eating for several hours during the night. Delicious blood sugar- friendly breakfast include oatmeal ( steel cut oats not instant) with low fat milk, stevia flavored with cinnamon, brown rice and vitamin D rich food such as eggs, non- nitrate ham or bacon and low fat dairy.

Let’s say it’s still a few hours before lunch time but you suddenly feel a little hungry. Even if you’re watching your diet and trying to maintain an optimal glucose metabolism, it’s still important to spread your meals out and it’s OK to have small or light snacks throughout the day to avoid eating too much during mealtime. When your stomach starts to rumble, munch on whole grain crackers, cottage cheese, celery, and apple wedges and or reduced fat cheese. During the weekends, snack on homemade popcorn or veggie sticks with fresh yogurt dip while watching a movie or entertaining friends.

There’s no need for you to deprive yourself during dinner if you are able to control your food proportions. A good way to do this is take regular dinner plate and fill a quarter of it with light, protein-rich food such as fish, chicken or turkey: half or three-fourths of it with non- starchy vegetables such as artichokes, spinach, or broccoli, and one-quarter or less filled with good carbohydrates like brown rice, a whole wheat dinner roll, pita bread or couscous.

If you’re craving sweets or a particular type of food for dessert, check whether you can substitute it with a healthier alternative. Don’t forget to make sure to keep your calorie intake consistent. Instead of ice cream, try sugar-free gelatin or fruit sorbet. Hungry for an all American apple pie Ala mode? Bake the crust using whole grain flour an extra egg, use organic green apples, stevia instead of refined sugar to sweeten it, and instead of the ice cream use low fat chilled whip cream.

Regulating and controlling the amount of calories you consume on a daily basis can positively affect your glucose metabolism. Try to eat roughly the same amount of calories each day instead of overeating one day or during one meal, then depriving yourself on the next. Regular eating habits don’t only mean that you eat at the right times. It also means making food you eat everyday count, so make sure that every bite is healthy and full of nutrients that your body can absorb and use for everyday functions. Remember the food you eat is first and foremost fuel for your body.

Learn How To Live To Be 100 Naturally…

23 08 2011

Research suggests that the average life expectancy for the current generation of young people could fall for the first time in recorded history, while those who do have healthy lifestyles will continue to live longer and longer. One estimate says that there could be 1 million Americans over the age of 100 by the year 2050. Of course, there is no way to guarantee that you are going to be in that special group, but you can increase your chances by adopting a few everyday practices that promote longevity. Do not look for miracle solutions, though most of these things involve everyday habits requiring real effort.

   1. Physical Activity: We all know that exercise is an important part at healthy living, but recent research makes things a little more complicated. Not only is it unhealthy not to exercise, but it is bad for the body to sit around for long periods of time. In other words, even if you do exercise vigorously at a regular basis, sitting around for long hours every day leads to increased risk of various longevity threatening problems.

The key to taking advantage of this fact is to make sure you stay active and standing for long portions of your day. If you work at a desk, consider elevating your computer and standing during work. Also be sure to take frequent breaks to stretch out and walk a little. These activities can give you a health boost in addition to your regular.

   2. Antioxidants: There has been a lot of hype over the last few years about the potential health benefits of antioxidants, and while some of the hype may go a little too far, there is no denying that a diet rich in antioxidants is beneficial. Antioxidants fight free radicals, the microscope molecules that bounce around within cells and cause damage. This keeps the cells running smoothly for longer, which helps fight aging.

There are many natural sources of antioxidants, including thing like berries, green tea, red wine, vegetables oils, dark chocolate, and all types of vegetables.

   3. Restrict: There has been much made in the media over the so-called “calorie-restriction movement,” whose adherents seek to promote longevity by restricting their calories by up to a third of what is normal. There is usually some sound science backing up this effect, but no legitimate health expert would say that it is beneficial to consume less than 1500 calories a day just in the hopes of living longer. In any event, it is a good idea to cut excess calories out of your diet. If you regularly consume unhealthy carbs and fats that offer no positive nutritional value, cut them out and stick with foods that carry a higher degree of benefits.

   4. Keep Learning: Never get out of the habit of learning new things. Whether you are 30 or 80, learning new skills helps boost your brain power, memory, and cognition, which reduces the effects of cognitive decline later in life. Make sure you always have a hobby that keeps you learning, and never stop reading books that teach you interesting new things. Hobbies that promote physical activity are doubly beneficial.

   5. Sleep Well: Aging well is all about giving the cells a chance to regenerate and stay healthy, and much of this work takes place during sleep. If you only allow yourself to sleep 4 to 6 hours per night, this will inevitably take a toll cause you to age faster. Think of those extra hours of sleep as a long term investment in yourself. Experts recommend that healthy adults get 7 to 9 hours of sleep each night, and while practical concerns may prevent us from reaching this number every night, it is something to strive for.

Can Diabetes Be Reversed: Can It Be Done Without The Need For Drugs And Medication?

22 08 2011

Can Diabetes be reversed: Can it be done without the need of drugs and medications?

This is a good Question? The answer is YES!!!

Do, you have a friend or a loved one suffer with diabetes? If so, read on…Let me first make it clear. I am not a doctor. But I have been in the medical field for 17 Plus! years. I have lost so many people with diabetes, from a sister, and a partner of 16 years.  I seen what this horrible disease can do. Also I seen so many people that have reverse this disease too!

Surprised, this information is known about, and has been for some time now, yet the truth is being hidden from you, in the main by the pharmaceutical companies of the world! These pharmaceutical companies don’t want you to know the truth? Why would they do that I hear you ask, why? The answer is simple, MONEY!

The pharmaceutical companies produce the drugs etc, to ease the diabetes, these drugs have to betaken by the patient for the rest of his or her life. Imagine if these pharmaceutical companies charged each patient ONLY $1 per week for their medication, as if that would be possible! It is estimated that as many as 300 million people worldwide could be suffering from this condition. At just $1 per week, that is a $300,000.000 per week industry just in the diabetes field alone! Now multiply that figure by 52 weeks per year and add the true weekly cost of that medication, and it starts to become a little more understandable why they wouldn’t want you to find this information.

Diabetes is NOT the problem: Diabetes is simply a symptom of the problem! the problem is actually the Pancreas which I’m sure you know is the organ within the human body that produces the hormone insulin.

Simply put, in these modern times, our diets are completely wrong and we now tend to eat fast food and junk foods that our bodies were not actually designed to eat. These foods are full of fats and acids etc, and these bad diets cause our bodies problems. Basically the pancreas gets clogged up with fats and acids in some cases gets disease and simply stops the pancreas of making insulin.

This is when we develop “pre-diabetes.” Left untreated and it will turn into type 2 diabetes and eventually type 1 diabetes.

Drugs and medications cannot reverse diabetes, they only ease the symptoms of diabetes and in some cases they can actually make the problem worse. When we treat that diabetic condition with drugs and medications, we are actually only treating the symptom. We don’t want to treat the symptom, let’s treat the root problem that causes the diabetes, lets treat the Pancreas!

Now, without a doubt, the best healer of the body is- the body itself, ( if you cut your skin, does it not heal up all by itself?) but we have to give the body a chance at self-healing.

To do that we first have to stop dumping all the fats and acids, ( that clog it up), into the pancreas, ( that’s what causing the diabetes in the first place) we have to change your diet in order to let your body heal the pancreas, let it recover, let it heal itself and get back to doing what nature intended it to do which was of course to produce insulin.

Once the pancreas starts that process of making insulin again, you will no longer need those insulin shots, you will therefore no longer be diabetic!! Do some research and start today with healing your body! Naturally…
