Health Is Not A Process Of Being Prefect. Being Healthy Is A Gradual Process Of Learning What Feeds Your Body…

25 10 2011

Health is not a process of being perfect. Being healthy is a gradual process of learning what feeds your body and what makes you feel like an energetic person. All of us are making mistakes of some kind which may be damaged our health. But realizing what the most common mistakes are and then correcting them is the best way to take control of your health. You don’t have to have troubles with sickness when you understand how to take care of your health.

Loosing Health By Eating Too Much:

Studies are beginning to show that the new American diet of around 2000 calories a day might be doing more harm than good. While it can contain all of the nutrients we need to eat in order to stay health, all of those calories can tax your body and make it less likely to stay healthy. These studies are also showing that eating fewer calories can add up to a longer life span. It’s recommended that people begin to eat fewer than 2000 calories a day in order a day in order to help their bodies not only be more energetic, but also to help the body have some time to rest in order to repair itself for a much longer life.

Health troubles When Not Flossing Your Teeth:

Other studies have made a conclusive link between flossing and health troubles. Those who are not flossing their teeth can have troubles with gingivitis, which can cause infections in the gums and them heart problems. Simply taking the time to brush and floss twice a day can help you to prevent these sorts of health troubles. Take some waxed floss and gently scrape between the teeth and under to the gum line to prevent a build up to bacteria.

Not Drinking Water Impacts Your Health:

Many people still are avoiding drinking their eight glasses of water a day. While the actual source of this advice is unknown, it’s been shown that people who take in enough water each day are able to maintain a healthy digestive system, are more energetic, and have healthier bodies. When you drink water, it helps the body remove all of the waste that is collected in the blood stream and then excreted.

THEIR ISN’T A MAGIC PILL TO STOP CHRONIC DISEASES!!! TIME TO WAKE -UP…

11 07 2011

Let’s imagine I’m driving my car down the road and the red light on my dash board suddenly starts flashing. I realize its the oil light so I take it to a mechanic to be fixed, unknown to me to start off with the engineer decides to remove the bulb. When I get my car back and carry on driving it its no longer flashing so I think its fixed.

The problem here is if I carry on driving my car its eventually going to break down. I will then no doubt take it back to the mechanic to be “fixed” again.

Now swap the car for your body. If you have an infection or disease you will go to the doctor and he most likely give you a drug, they will then probably reevaluate and give you another a few weeks later.

I find this very challenging, I know we’re all products of our environment, but this is the very system that has got us in the mess we’re in today. Using pharmaceutical drugs to treat symptoms is not the answer. This analogy is pertaining the message that it is acceptable to continue living dysfunctional lifestyles with no regards to our health, because we can simply take a drug and all our problems will melt away.

There are more than 100 trillion cells in the human body and these drugs to not accommodate there needs. Our cells have a big shopping list of micro and macro nutrients in order to function properly such that they can utilize oxygen. If they don’t they have the potential to mutate into cancer cells.

Every day I see people coming in and out of pharmacies like a fast food restaurant thinking that they can take a magic pill and all there ailments will be cured. This mindset then continues and later suddenly a few years down the line in their life they later become disabled, crippled or suddenly got a chronic disease because they are not listening to there body.

This addictive life style is not good for society, people are subconsciously addicted to their habits without knowing this is a destructive way of living and comes at a price.

If only people started to take control of their health by putting in the right fuel for our car (body) we would no longer need to treat symptoms because we would have prevented them.

What Is The Role That Fruits And Vegetables Have In Bone Health

14 03 2011

One thing that ails a lot of people today, especially women, is osteoporosis and other bones problems. Although it has been advocated that people who suffer from bone diseases should drink milk to increase calcium intake, question are raised about the effects of fruits and vegetable to bone health. Here we will try to answer this question.

   The Common Knowledge:

It is widely understood that poor nutrition can lead to the bones becoming brittle and weak. The bones needs calcium to grow and develop. Calcium is found mostly in milk and yogurt. This is why for many years, people were advised to take milk to strengthen the bones. However, findings to recent studies show that fruits and vegetables are also rich in calcium. Some of these fruits and vegetables are broccoli, oranges, yam, and carrots. Over the years, research has shown an increasing prominence in the role of fruits and vegetables to bone health. True enough, there is a positive link between green nutrition and the bone.

Another common notion is that the bone needs vitamin D. This is why many parents take their babies out in the early morning, they want the babies to absorb vitamin D through sunlight. Although there is nothing wrong with these beliefs, there is a new approach to bone development and maintenance that can change a person’s overall nutritional approach when it comes to bone health. This approach is through balancing the alkaline and acid content of the body.

   Acid-Alkali Balance And Bone Health:

In many studies, it has been revealed that a diet that is rich in protein causes the body to exceed the ideal acidity level limit. Protein is taken mostly from meat and cereal and the body uses this not to fuel energy but to heal damaged cells. With the increase of protein content in the body. Since the bone has the most amount of calcium, the body forces the bone to give up its calcium to counter the acidity content. This makes the bone lose its natural supplement and causes it to get weak and brittle. This process by which the bone gives out calcium is called bone resorption. As this happens, the bone is more susceptible to breaking and fractures.

The Role Of Fruits And Vegetables:

With a consistent and rich diet of fruits and vegetables, the body gets more alkali elements in the form of bicarbonate. The body will therefore reduce the process of bone resorption because there is enough amount of alkali elements that will counter the acidity content of the body. The bone calcium is no longer going to be the primary source of alkali and the bone can be left alone doing its business.

This is why eating a lot fruits and vegetables is good for the bone: they are rich in alkali elements and they significantly balance the acid content of the body. On the other hand, meat is bad because this is the very source of protein that increase the acidity levels of the body, causing the body to react in ways possible to balance the two elements.

How Does A Balanced Diet Protect Our Body?

23 02 2011

The human body has many enemies in terms of food and diet. Unfortunately, many people gorge these enemy foods without  care and the end up getting sick or with a weak immune system. Many foods are saturated with fats and other unwanted chemicals, most of which also happen to be great tasting and are really sumptuous. We are not saying that you should not eat these foods but at least, try so to put control in the protect your body from harm.

   Weight Control:

A balanced diet is also your way of controlling your weight. If you eat foods that have very high calorie content, do not wonder if you gain a few hundred pounds in the next few years. Foods rich in fat may taste good but they also have so much unusable fuel that the body cannot use as energy. These fats just end up in your blood stream and arteries, lingering there until you keep on adding weight. To reduce weight, you need to eat foods that have little calorie content. You can do this by eating fresh fruits and lean cuts of meat. Fish is also a great alternative because it can provide your body proteins and other essential amino acids.

   Disease Prevention:

A balanced diet of less fat and more on carbohydrates and proteins will protect you from chronic diseases. Fatty foods are rich in cholesterol that will cling to your arteries. Soon enough, these things can cause heart attack and heart failure.

A balanced diet also provides you the necessary vitamins and minerals that will support your body’s needs to boost your immune system. Without a balanced diet, your body will not get what it needs to repair damaged cells. Also, it will not get an adequate supply of energy that will fuel your day to day activities. A balanced diet that will protect your body from diseases is comprised of a lot of vegetables, mostly green ones. You can also add fruits that are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants such as apples, oranges, and bananas.

   The Balanced Diet:

Simply put, a balanced diet does not mean you will not eat many foods that you like. What you have to do differently is to control the portion of what you take. It is not at all bad to eat fatty pork and beef. A balanced diet does not mean you will have to give up your favorites cakes and ice cream. Sugar is also an essential need but you just have to control it.

The balanced diet is comprised of eating more of grains and wheat. These foods are your pasta, rice, bread, and cereal. This is followed by green, leafy vegetables and fruits. On any given day, you should eat around 6-11 servings of wheat and grain and about 2-4 servings of fruits and vegetables. Then, you may eat about 2-3 servings of meat, milk, dairy products, nuts. And lastly, you should eat fatty, sweet and oily foods very sparingly.

6 Tips on Enhancing the Mind, Body, and Soul to Your Wellness

21 02 2011

Sure enough, there are three things that each person should improve to make sure he enhances his overall well-being. These things are the mind, the body, and the soul. The body makes it possible for us to execute the things we have to accomplish. The mind is responsible in planning and decision making. The soul, improve all three for wellness and overall health.

   Enhancing the Body:

   1. Sleep Well: Sleep is the only time of the day when our bodies can peacefully regenerate and heal damaged cells. No amounts of food or vitamins can substitute sleep. While sleeping, the body goes into a different state of consciousness that allows the brain to focus on healing the body and making it healthy.

During waking hours, the brain is working on conscious thoughts and activities like muscle movement and motor coordination. While sleeping, all the activities are not the brain’s problem so it can focus on commanding the different parts of the body to process fuel and energy, making us relaxed and ready to face a new day. At the average, you should sleep no less than eight hours a day.

   2. Remove Energy-Consuming Foods from your Diet: One problem with a person’s diet is that he eats foods that consume energy instead of providing it. One great example is excessive sugar. When you consume too much sugar, you are causing a fluctuation in your blood sugar level that result to your energy level going down. Coffee is another good example. You might think it boost energy. True enough, but this only lasts a little while. The truth is it will cause burnout.

   Enhancing the Mind:

   1. Read Good Books: At the end of every discussion, books are still the best source of intelligence. Books are very rich in information and you will learn a lot of things you will never really learn in life by yourself. Specifically, you must read books that stimulate the mind. Books that are mentally challenging can enhance and stimulate your thinking process and improve your vocabulary, making you smarter and therefore making you more confident.

   4. Avoid Television: Many television shows do not add value to your intelligence and mental health. Surely, these shows can make you a lot more attuned to current events but watching TV is not really productive. Watching television all day long is going to drain you of your mental power and soon enough, you’ll be a bimbo just like the people you watch on your favorite shows.

   Enhancing the Soul:

   5. Appreciate Life: There are so many things in life that we should be thankful for: the air we breathe, the water, our families, and many more. Do not be a negative Nancy because negativism drives the wrong behaviour. Whenever you are faced with a difficult situation, focus on how you can resolve it and not on how it makes your life miserable.

   6. Have a Quiet Time:  Set a time each week, about 30 minutes, to ave a quiet time for yourself. you do not have to do yoga or meditate if you do not want to. All you have to do is to be alone and reflect about the things that are happening in your life. Think of your goals and find ways to achieve them.

28 10 2010

Insulin is a hormone that is produced in the human body by the pancreas. This means that the glucose is prevented from sticking around in the blood and causing trouble to the body.

In a diabetic persons the body either does not produce the insulin in the right amount or is resistant to the insulin produced. If he is resistant to insulin it is type 1 diabetes, and if the body is unable to provide enough insulin it is called diabetes type 2. This is why he has to be given some insulin therapy.

The artificial insulin allows the body to control the blood glucose level. However one has to be very careful about the correct dosage of insulin needed by the body. This is why regular blood sugar tests are needed to be done by diabetic persons.
