Is There A Link Between Type 2 Diabetic Alzheimer’s, Insulin And Dementia?

2 02 2012

Type 2 diabetes Alzheimer’s caught my attention when I was reading about nasal insulin spray. It was on the market for a short wile, but diabetics did not warm up to it, so it was taken off the market again.

But researchers at the National Veteran’s Administration Hospital had been looking at Alzheimer’s dementia patients and the low levels of insulin found un their brains. The researchers decided to try giving those patients doses of nasal insulin spray, hoping it wold reach their brains without causing high insulin levels in the blood.

The result were very encouraging. Memory and thinking skills were improved for a while in many of the Alzheimer’s patients, most in those who had mild levels of dementia. Of course, lots more studies will have to be done before nasal insulin spray is prescribed for Alzheimer’s dementia.

Looking For The Connection:

Statistics show that having type 2 diabetes double your risk for Alzheimer’s dementia. That is not the same as vascular dementia, which is often the result of hardening and narrowing of arteries, strokes and heart disease.

The steps from diabetes to vascular dementia are easy to follow since diabetes damages blood vessels, increasing the risk of heart disease, strokes and vascular disease as we age. But what about Alzheimer’s dementia?

When older diabetics with mental ability decline were tested, they had brain changes that look like both Alzheimer’s and vascular dementia. The cause seems to be the long- term effects on brain cells of their inability to use sugar and respond to insulin.

Increased mild cognitive impairment ( called MCI) seems to be the stage between normal aging and Alzheimer’s dementia. There is a lot of interest in the pathways to Alzheimer because of the statistics.

If there a connection between Alzheimer’s and diabetes we need to know it. On Dr. Oz’s website there is an article titled “ Alzheimer- brain form of diabetes?” The writer explains that in Alzheimer’s the brain’s ability to use sugar is reduced. it is insulin that helps the brain take up sugar. Since insulin is not as effective with Alzheimer’s, brain cells begin to starve.

In type 2 diabetic Alzheimer’s the pancreas is pumping out insulin, more than is being used because of insulin resistance. There are high levels of sugar and of insulin in your blood. The damage they cause leads to poor circulation from blood vessel hardening and weakening.

In patients with early Alzheimer’s the brain demonstrates resistance to insulin, and it starts with the sections that control memory and personality. Insulin resistance gets serious in the brain because insulin helps make neurotransmitters that are needed for neurons to talk to each other.

And your brain actually makes its own insulin, the same kind that is made in your pancreas. When that insulin isn’t being used it causes inflammatory response in your brain’s blood vessels.

Another problem for Alzheimer’s patients is the presence of brain plaques. They are formed by a protein called beta amyloid. Type 2 diabetes interferes with the breakdown of this protein, and it builds up, becoming one of the telltale signs of Alzheimer’s dementia.

What Is Going On With Mortality Rates?

Heart disease and cancer statistics are down, but Alzheimer’s, diabetes and Parkinson’s have gone up. Until 198 diabetes as a cause of death was including, but since then it has gone up steadily.

That’s in spite of improvements in medical treatment and understanding of this disease. That kind of rise in death rates does not seem to point to a genetic cause but to an environmental one.

Right now one in ten people over 20 years old has diabetes. One in four people over 65 know that have it. And the World Health Organization thinks that there is a huge who have type 2 diabetes and don’t know it.

Alzheimer’s dementia is ranked the sixth leading cause of death. One in eight people over 65 has it, and half the people over 85 do. And there seem to be strong parallels between the mortality rates of both Alzheimer’s and type 2 diabetes, and increased exposure to nitrates, nitrites and nitrosamines. But the correction has not become an accepted fact.

Type 2 Diabetes Alzheimer’s Fighting Back:

What else can you do? You can manage your type 2 diabetes, keeping your blood sugar well controlled. Take the medications you’ve been given for cholesterol and blood pressure too. Exercise for at least 30 minutes a day and eat healthy foods:

- Walnuts slow the aging of the brain with an antioxidants called luteolin, It may reduce memory deficits and inflammation of the brain too. You can also find luteolin in olive oil, peppers and celery.

- Berries, blueberries juice has improved memory and depression in trails. It can slow aging and increase signal ability in your brain.

- Fish rich in omega-3 such as wild salmon slows cognitive decline. It also has B12 which may actually protect you against Alzheimer’s.

- Coffee and tea may prevent Alzheimer’s and improve your brain’s function.

- Spinach and other green leafy vegetables have Vitamin C and E which have been shown to increase and protect brain function.

If you exercise your mind it keeps those brain cells agile. There is proof that brain games help people stay sharper as they age. And physical exercise is always a great idea.

And if have begun problems with cognitive decline, all those things will help you too. It becomes more important to manage your sleep, because it is too easy to get your sleep cycle messed up in early Alzheimer’s. And if you have pain, restless leg syndrome, or depression get some help for those too.

Type 2 diabetes Alzheimer’s dementia may have many causes, and nothing explains all the complications of Alzheimer’s or of type 2 diabetes for that matter. We may watch with interest and even hope as researchers dig into the mysteries of our body’s systems, but we must live today. We can find joy in our creative outlets and our friends and family. It’s still the secret of living with type 2 diabetes,

We Now Have The Key To Longer Life Because We Know That Insulin Perhaps The Most Important Hormone In Our Body!

1 02 2012

We now have the key to a longer healthier life because we now know that insulin is perhaps the most important hormone in the body and its control is vital when it comes to how you age and how long you live. High insulin levels caused by a diet high in refined carbohydrates and not enough proper exercise is one of the primary causes of premature aging and poor health.

New research says that one in four of us is in a pre-diabetic state and does not know it. If this trend continues one in three of us will be diagnosed wit the devastating disease diabetes in our lifetime. Although you do not die from diabetes you can die from the damage it does do to the organs, tissues and cells of the human body.

Like most of us you have probably never given your blood sugar levels a second thought as diabetic were believed to be the only ones that had to worry about their blood sugar. But this is not so anymore as our sedentary world together with the wrong types of food and too much of them render us very susceptible to this nasty chronic disease that is now reaching epidemic proportions.

Right at the root of the problem is the fact that we have a total lack of muscular exertion in our daily lives which makes us overweight and immobile. Our muscle cells are where fuel ( calories) are burnt for energy so if we don’t use our muscle as they been designed to be used we are on a one way ticket to a download spiral of declining health.

When the muscle cells cannot uptake the blood sugar ( because they are already full to the eyebrows) more and more insulin is produced to try and reduce the levels in the blood and “push” it into the muscle cells so they shut down the receptors and say “go away.”

So now we have a dangerous cocktail of hig blood sugar together will high insulin circulating around the body with nowhere to go. This mix ends up in places it shouldn’t be and does insidious accumulative damage to the sensitive tissues of the brain, kidneys eyes, blood vessels and other important body parts.

The solution a program of health orientated strength training exercise 2-3 times each week. If muscles are well exercised to fatigue and diet is controlled by cutting out as many processed carbohydrates and eating more quality lean proteins the problem can be brought under control.

These two factors proper exercise and healthy eating have a lasting positive effect on metabolic activity within the muscles cells. The disease of diabetes is located primarily in the muscles when they become underused and have low energy requirements. So, their rehabilitation by strengthening and toning will inevitably produce a beneficial result.

Proper strength training exercise has a positive effect on our metabolism ( our body’s engine) increasing insulin sensitivity of the muscles, reducing blood pressure, improving glucose ( blood sugar) tolerance and reducing fatty tissue in and around the waistline.

In other words, a properly exercised body not only improves external appearance., it also improves health and reduces disease risk and it is within easy access of all adults. Our health really is in our hands but it does need our own personal participation.

*3* Worst Foods To Eat- Period!!!

21 01 2012

In today’s world, foods play a huge part on human beings. Advertisements, television commercials, restaurants, bars and fast food chains play an important role to promote their food products to people globally. We think foods bring us pleasure. However there are worst foods to eat across the globe. We are being fooled by the foods that bring indulgence and temptation to us. Sadly, these three of the bad foods are our body’s biggest enemy.

Food Enemy #1: Soda Drinks

Soda drinks are everywhere you go, vending machines at schools, workplace, public libraries, restaurants and other common places. There are a lot of brands and various flavors of soda drinks. It is also known as carbonated drinks, soda pop, soft drinks, tonic, fizzy drinks, carbonated beverage which is non-alcoholic. According to Us law, soft drinks are allowed to contain up to 0.5 percent of alcohol by volume. Why soda drinks are could be one of the worst foods to eat?

The amount of high fructose corn syrup, caffeine, refined sugars, and mixture of dry ingredients are too much and that raise the level of blood sugar in our body. USDA recommends dietary allowance (RDA) of added sugars in less than ten teaspoons per day for a 2000 calorie diet. However soda drinks contain more than this amount and that is ridiculously insane!

Soda drinks can lead to dehydration, obesity, type 2 diabetes, dental cavities, low nutrient levels, liver damage, tooth decay, hypertension, kidney stones and kidney disease. Therefore soda drinks are useless for our body and should be avoided at all cost.

Food Enemy #2: French Fries

French fries are the worst foods to eat because it is deep fried. any food that is deep fried increases, trans fat and saturated fats. Even though french fries are made from potatoes, there is a chemical called acrylamide which is form during the potatoes are being baked, fried or grilled. The same goes to baked potatoes and potato chips. This chemical could cause cancer in rats and that could cause the same to human beings.

French fries are widely popular in most fast food restaurants but never be found in the health food pyramid. But sadly in America, around 2 billion servings of fries each year and that worsen the obesity level.

Food Enemy #3: Processed Meats

This is one of the worst foods to eat because it is completely unnatural and not organic at all. Processed meats do look tasty because it looks fresh because of the bright red color of the meat. The reality is that the red color of the meat is actually the huge amount of sodium nitrate and mono sodium glutamate (MSG). It is really bad for consumption and lead to major health problems including cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, risk of colorectal kidney, risk of pancreatic cancer and stomach cancer.

Processed meats includes bacon, hot dogs, sausages, burgers, nuggets, packaged ham, sandwich meat, pepperoni, salami and all types of meat that is processed and frozen. Beware of these processed meats because it is sold everywhere at fast food chains, restaurants and most food stalls in school, hospitals, hotels and so on.

Do you notice something about all these three worst foods to eat? Soda drinks, French fries, and burgers. These three foods complete a whole fast food meal! Imagine if all these three foods being consume inside your body. It will definitely triple the bad health effects tremendously! It triples the chances of cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure and the list goes on and on.

Therefore eating at fast food chains is really a big disaster for our health and body and that is crazy! We need to stop eating fast foods and start eating healthy now. You will live longer, healthier and stronger than ever before. Remember, always pay the grocer instead of paying the doctor!!!!

, obesity, type 2 diabetes, dental cavities, low nutrient levels, liver damage, tooth decay, hypertension, kidney stones and kidney disease. Therefore soda drinks are useless for our body and should be avoided at all costs.

Wonder What Causes Your Sugar Cravings!!

20 01 2012

The cause of sugar cravings is multi faceted, emotional, physical, psychological, serotonin, release of dopamine and much more.

You may never think of chocolate the same and that’s good news as it’s at the top of the list of food items most commonly craved. Chocolate and sugary foods release opioids upon consumption.

Yes, opioids- just like opium or heroin.

Opioids will bind to brain receptors, triggering feelings of pleasure and well-being. Further evidence that supports the stimulation of opiate receptors by chocolate is that blocking the receptors will reduce the cravings.

Cause of Sugar Cravings and Sucrose:

a 2005 Swedish study proved that sucrose causes the release of endogenous opioids and thus triggers more sugar consumption. Chocolate also causes the brain to release endorphins and contains small amounts of Anandamide, an endogenous cannibinoid that has similiar effects on the brain as marijuana. The cause of sugar cravings is multifaceted.

Another neurotransmitter involved in the cause of sugar cravings and will increase them is serotonin. When we eat sugar or other refined carbohydrates, they are easily broken down and converted to glucose, and fructose. In response to this glucose load, the brain releases serotonin and beta-endorphin s.

Serotonin has many functions in the body and is most known for making us euphoric and feeling good. And low serotonin states with depression and fatigue will cause sugar cravings and promote more cravings. That’s why these sweets are the cause of sugar ravings and become so addictive.

There is a very interesting parallel however. What happens when you take a “natural” substances out of nature, and refine it so much so that you can optimize its biological and chemical activity?

Causes of Sugar Cravings and Sugar Cane:

By the way, cocaine is a drug that is refined from cocoa leaves, opium and heroin from the poppy flower and yes, sugar from a gnarly piece of plant called sugar cane. We made sugar what it is today. We processed it, and then we accentuated the “sweet business” by adding another “natural” product called high fructose corn syrup.

We are doing this us to ourselves and we have created a country teeming with illness that unfortunately is being perpetuated by the ridiculous low-fat diet. Or we could say high sugar diet. There is so much more to the cause of sugar cravings though.

Psychological components are at hand in the cause of sugar cravings. Enticing foods, memorable food experiences, and vivid visual imagery of a delicious slice of chocolate cake cause the release of dopamine. A cause of sugar cravings is the addictive pleasure hormone that is also released during sex and drug use.

Of all the substances we consume that are damaging, sugar is the most harmful as it ignites inflammation and inflammation causes heart disease. We can see the result of excessive sugar in diabetes, obesity and cancer as well. Having seen the ravages of damaged hearts for 15 years as a heart surgeon, my goal today is helping patients prevent disease. A huge step in prevention is overcoming sugar addiction.

As America’s Will Have A Sugar Addiction

18 01 2012

Most people are malnourished. I’m not talking about people living in impoverished, third world nations either. I’m talking about middle class Americans. Because their diet consists mainly of starch, sugar, and GMO’s ( genetically modified organisms), the body is simply disallowed from much needed trace minerals, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants that it requires to rebuild and repair tissue, and to maintain a slightly alkaline state.

The average American is consuming about one-third of a pound of sugar every day. Most of this sugar comes from high fructose corn syrup which is the primary ingredient in processed foods such as chips, crackers, cereals, breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and candy. Besides sucrose and fructose intake, lactose, the sugar found in dairy products such as milk, cheese, and yogurt, is the third most common form of sugar consumed.

The so-called ” health drinks” such as fruit juice, contains a concentrated amount of pure sugar. And just because it’s ” all natural”, it doesn’t mean it’s good for you. Your body can’t tell the difference between sugar from cane, sugar from fruit, sugar from milk, sugar from maple syrup, or sugar from honey. To the body, it’s all sugar! In addition to all of this, complex carbohydrates foods such as bread, pasta, soy, legumes, whole grains, and potatoes, all get converted to sugar in the bloodstream. As a result of this ever increasing sugar addiction in the U.S. we have seen the rates of diabetes, cancer, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, and A.D.H.D. skyrocket to epidemic proportions in the last fifty years.

So, what’s wrong with sugar? Well, cancer loves it, thrives on it because is lower the pH in the blood. This creates the ideal environmental for cancer to thrive. Cancer forms in your body all the time, and has been forming and dying since you were born. If the body is healthy and maintains a pH level that is slightly alkaline ( 7.35- 7.45), then it will be able to defend itself against the proliferation of cancer cells. If, however, the environmental is perfect for cancer to thrive, as in an acidic, toxic, low-oxygen state, then cancer cells can multiply rapidly and form themselves into dangerous tumors.

The best way to give the body the nutrients it needs for optimal health and maintaining an alkaline state is through proper diet. This means consuming as many sugar-free, starch-free, nutrient-dense, anti-oxidant rich foods as you can eat. Throw out the grape nuts and begin consuming mushrooms, squash, broccoli, kale, artichokes, and peppers. And stop drowning yourself in sugary coffee drinks and begin drinking green tea instead. A cup of tea ( both black and green) contain about ten times the antioxidants found in a single serving of strawberries.

Their Are Some Side Effects You Need To Know If Your On **Metformin**

13 01 2012

Metformin is one of the most popular drugs prescribed fro type 2 Diabetes. This medicine helps the body to control the levels of glucose in the blood. However, Metformin has some uncomfortable side effects that may occur when using it.

Most people who suffer from diabetes get the wrong perspective about Metformin being a safe and less threatening medication which only causes some minor side effects like stomach pain. The reality is that this drug can have extensive effects such as cell damage. A prominent example of the problems that a particular person who suffers from diabetes has is related to the nerves. The dangerous amount of glucose in the blood affects the nerves in a negative way. This usually results in numbness especially in the toes or the finger tips. It is recommended to tend to this problem a fast as possible by consulting your MD. Metformin can have substantial side effects on the body most of which are **HARMFUL.**

Dismissing B12 from the cellular system will result in nerve problems. In order for our nerves to function the right way, vitamin B12 must exist in the cells. Although the prescription may hint that the side effects are of no significance and may advise that you take B12. However, there some reasons why this ineffective, 1- the B12 intake does not last long in our system, 2- B12 drugs have low lasting periods after absorption.

Metformin can cause the body to dismiss a very important enzyme which is cop 10. This may cause harm to the person who suffers from diabetes.

Metformin does not guarantee all the result it claims. Diet and work out could have better results than the consumption of Metformin. This should be a wake up call for the people who consume this pill in order to be wary of the risks

People who suffer from Type 2 diabetes are the only patients that Metformin can be described to. Individuals who have kidney disorders must not consume this medication. Although Metformin has some serious side effects, it does not cause hypoglycemia unlike other diabetes treatments.

You must be aware that symptoms of pre-diabetes are a sign that you are not doing very well. You need to prepare yourself in order to reduce this problem. Mostly, all diabetes pills are risky and may have long term side effects of on the heart which is why they need to be taken with caution

Main Causes Contributing To Type 2 Diabetes…

10 01 2012

Diabetes is a disease that is characterized by high levels of glucose, or sugar, in the blood. The increased amount sugar in the blood is a result of either defects in the production of insulin or the way in which insulin is used by the body.

Complications from diabetes can lead to dozens of other medical conditions, such as kidney failure, peripheral vascular disease, blindness, neuropathy, gum disease, or heart disease

Type 1 diabetes the result of a lack of insulin production because of the destruction of beta cells in the pancreas. These beta cells are responsible for the production of insulin that regulates blood glucose. Researchers have found that there is a combination of genetic and environmental factors that increase a person’s risk for developing Type 1.

There is limited knowledge of the exact cause of type 1 diabetes but researchers do know that the body attacks the beta cells in the pancreas because of a mistake made by the immune system.

There is limited knowledge of the exact cause of Type 1 diabetes but researchers do know that the body attacks the beta cells in the pancreas ecause of a mistake made by the immune system.

It is theorized that type 1 diabetes is caused when an environmental toxin or pathogen triggers the immune system to attack itself. Also, o may be at risk for Type 1 diabetes if you suffer from other hormonal problem such as hypothyroidism or Hashimoto’s or Addison’s disease.

Type 1 diabetes can happen at any age but most often happens in children and young adults. This type of diabetes requires artificial insulin injections, This is why Type 1 diabetes is often called insulin dependent diabetes.

Type 2 diabetes is also called non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus or adult onset diabetes. Type 2 diabetes is caused when the body still produce enough insulin but the body has become resistant to the effects of the hormone. This type of diabetes usually develops in middle age and in overweight/ obese individuals. It is most common in people who are older, obese, have a family history of diabetes or have had gestational diabetes.

There are specific risk factors that place people in a higher risk category for developing Type 2 diabetes. These risk factors include sedentary lifestyle, stress, infection, hereditary or inherited traits, age, poor diet high in carbohydrates and processed foods, obesity, hypertension and high triglyceride and cholesterol levels.

The main causes contributing to developing Type 2 diabetes are high carbohydrates diets and the sedentary “coach potato” lifestyle, which often leads to inflammation and obesity. Inflammation and obesity which are linked to increased insulin resistance in the body and poor functioning immune system.

The third type of diabetes which effects the glucose system is gestational diabetes. This is a diabetic situation that occurs in an individual who is pregnant and is believed to be caused by hormonal changes in weight gain.

When found early on in the pregnancy it is easily treated so that it does not effect the growth and development of the infant. Most women who develop gestational diabetes find that the condition disappears after the delivery of the baby. However, having gestational diabetes puts a woman at greater risk for developing Type 2 diabetes later in life.

Women that develop gestational diabetes can often have larger than normal babies. We’re talking 10 pounders here! Also, babies born to women with gestational diabetes tend to have low blood sugar levels after birth ( hypoglycemia).

Researchers and scientists continue to search for the exact causing factors of diabetes. The only reasonable treatment options available for individuals at this time are diet, exercise and medications.

Controlling your blood sugar levels is the most important aspect of diabetes management and care. The better controlled your blood sugar levels are the lower your chances of developing diabetic complications are.

Why Should You Became A Vegetarian!

1 01 2012

The evidence is now conclusive. The fat, cholesterol, triglycerides, and carcinogenic protein from all the meat and dairy products we consume clog us up, restricts our blood flow, decreases the oxygen to our cells, weakens our immune system, makes us sluggish, causes high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and causes heart disease. It also causes every kind of cancer that exists, and diabetes. These diseases are becoming epidemic. If you follow the SAD ( standard American Diet) promoted by all the fast food corporations and the meat and dairy industries that support you will get these diseases.

You can avoid these diseases forever, and receive any you may currently have ( that always stay hidden until they are fully entrenched in our bodies), by reducing the meat and dairy you eat to 5% or less of your food intake ( the less the better). Fruits, vegetables and grains taste heavenly when your tongue isn’t filtering them through layers of fats, grease, salt, and sugar. And an occasional steak or rack of ribs won’t push you over the line.

Before you started reading this article, you were probably pleasantly ignorant that meat and dairy caused degenerative diseases. On one hand, that was a good thing. You could continue soon your merry way eating all the meat and dairy products you desired without any quilt. On the other hand, it wasn’t cool, because the meat and dairy products you have been eating will slowly kill you. How many of your family have already been claimed by these disease?

And you don’t know before reading this article that these very diseases can be reversed and even prevented by changing the way we eat. These diseases begin and grow slowly, so you could have heart disease right now, or cancer growing in you, that you may not know about until it physically appears. Are you excited about heart bypass surgery or another fun treatment the doctors love, chemotherapy? You can avoid all that, simply by making a few changes, and reducing your meat and dairy to less than 5% of what you consume.

So, it’s bad news, good news. Before there was no cure and we were helpless victims. Now, we can take control of our health, it’s in our hands by changing what we eat, and we can escape the scourge of heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, and over 100 other degenerative disease most of which you probably haven’t known existed. The bad news is over now it’s only good news!

Why A Caveman Paleolithic Diet Works In The Modern World?

8 12 2011

It is no secret that cavemen of prehistoric times were a healthier bunch than modern people of today. However, their health was not a matter of choice, it was a matter of survival. During those times it was very likely that dangers lurked in every corner, and thus cavemen were always forced to be in their best physical and mental condition. One very significant factor was the caveman Paleolithic diet.

The food products in this staple included lean meat and fish, wild fruits, nut and vegetables. These foods had high nutritional and energy value, were free from any chemicals, and had low calorie content. This meant that the food the cavemen consumed was just enough for their daily energy needs. They did not go hungry nor did they become too full: this allowed them to become healthy enough to survive in prehistoric times.

However, man’s penchant for invention also became his downfall. Following the discovery and exploitation of fire for cooking, the caveman Paleolithic diet expanded to include a whole range of other food products, many of them extravagant and unhealthy. Going even further, man developed his farming and agricultural abilities, enabling him to produce food products at an excessive rate. Thus, one can now see the full blown effect this has on the modern world. Increasing cases of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and other adverse health conditions continue to plague modern man due to his desire for an easier way of life.

Nevertheless, these incidents are very proof that people should return to a balanced lifestyle just like the one their ancestors had, and that includes their eating habits. Case in point: advocates of the diet have pointed out that since ancient times, cavemen and their genes have been programmed to receive only certain kinds of foods at certain amounts. In this case, low-calorie foods with high nutritional value should be in every one’s diet. However, inclusion of unessential foods would cause the body to gain excess weight and suffer various ailments as well.

This diet is very much available to anyone who wants to live a healthier way of life. Essentially this is an exclusion diet, meaning you only eat what’s acceptable and avoid those, which are not. However, if you stay long term with this diet, then the benefits are enormous.

First, thanks  to a low calorie diet, you can lose a great deal of weight. Second,  your body will be able to detoxify itself faster sand became stronger against disease as a result. Thanks to the diet, your immune system is far more resistant to diseases such as cancer, diabetes and other modern day conditions.

** Think Outside The Box**

3 12 2011

No doubt you’ve heard the expression, “think outside the box” too many times to count. It simply means that one should try to approach something with a different mindset than is the norm, and as a result, come up with a more creative and practical solution.

Today, I want to apply this way of thinking to you, and most specifically towards your nutrition. In other words, I want to challenge you to think differently about how and especially what you’re eating every day, and give you a real solid jump start towards your fat lose goals.

Eat Food, Not Too Much, Mostly Plant:

When you think about this statement, it really makes alot of sense when it comes to eating healthy. This statement is certainly what I would consider thinking outside the box!

So, while keeping this in mind, let’s talk about how you can start “eating” outside the box. In the paragraphs that follow, I’ll expose two NASTY INGREDIENTS  that will attempt to sideline your fat loss efforts, and then give you some easy ways to avoid them and move closer to your goals.

The first enemy of fat loss I want to expose is one that’s been around for a good long time. It’s used primarily as a food flavor-enhancer, and is actually used to much, it can be impossible to avoid.

MSG- mono-sodium glutamate:

While it sounds innocent enough, in reality, it’s a food additive quilty on all charges of contributing to obesity and other health related issues. The most disturbing thing about MSG is its not only found in Chinese food, but in virtually every processed food on the market today-including ingredients that make no mention of MSG( such as yeast extract, hydrolyzed vegetable protein and autolyzed yeast).

Made from the amino acid glutamic acid, MSG falls under a rather infamous larger class of chemicals called excitotoxins, which ” excite” cells and neurons in the body to the point of cell death. Studies have reviewed the linkage of MSG to obesity by pointing to animal experiments that show how excessive mono-sodium glutamate consumption creates lesions in the part of the brain called the hypothalamus, which controls elements of the nervous system, hunger and thirst pangs as well as sexual activity. It’s no wonder, then that these lesions were found to cause obesity, sexual reproductive problems and short stature.

The second ingredient that I want to bring to your attention is HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. This is an added ingredient in many everyday foods like soda pop, candy, sweetened cereals, jams and slot of baked goods, is made from a mixture of sucrose and fructose. It is used by food and drink manufacturers for several reasons: consumers like its taste because it’s sweeter than refined sugar, its syrupy content makes it easier to blend into soft drinks than refined sugar and of course it’s also very inexpensive to produce leptin, a hormone that helps regulate appetite and breakdown of fat storage, fructose does not produce leptin either. Thus, consuming high amounts of fructose found in corn syrup contribute to weight storage and overindulgence.

The proof for lack of a better term is in the pudding, All across North America, schools are removing vending machines from their hallways and lobby areas because of the growing number of studies that link the consumption of high fructose corn syrup to obesity, comes with other problems, most notably diabetes.

Now let’s talk about a couple of simple ways that you can eat outside the box every day, and therefore avoid these potential health problems, while getting closer and closer to your fat los goals.

Scratch Cooking: When you get right down to it, it really doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare your food from scratch. This is the best way to ensure you aren’t eating nasty processed foods, and instead, you’re eating natural, fat-burning foods which are moving you forward. Bottom Line? You want something to eat? Go get the fresh ingredients you need and make it yourself!

Don’t Eat From A Box Or A Bag: A direct result of cooking from scratch is that you can avoid eating processed foods containing MSG or HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP. When you go shopping for your weekly groceries, go prepared a list, and stay away from the inside aisles of the supermarket, that’s where all the processed foods are lurking, just waiting to leap into your shopping cart! Bottom Line? Stop eating anything from a box or a bag and you’ll avoid unnecessary and dangerous ingredients!!!!
