With the ever present need to manage your blood sugar as a diabetic, your food choices may seem severely limited. However there are a number of things that you can eat and enjoy. Here are a few such foods that a person suffering from diabetes can eat.
Start with the “five a day” rule for fruits and vegetables. Fresh is best, but canned and frozen will also do. Try and get all the different colors that you can so that you manage to get all the nutrients associated with each color group.
Choose to eat whole grain and multi grain breads and pastas. While you must limit your carbohydrates intake as a diabetic, you cannot eliminate it from your diet altogether. Eat sensibly and there should be no major problem to content with.
Eat smaller portions. The general serving in a restaurant is usually too large to be considered healthy. So don’t finish everything on your plate. Eat till you feel full and get the vegetables and fruits before you get the sweets.
Drink soups as they give you the nutrients without giving you all the calories. Use yogurt based salad dressing instead of mayonnaise. Making small healthy choices in your food will go a long way to keep your diabetes under control.

How do you know if you have an onset of diabetes and what should you do about it? There are some common symptoms which may or may not show up in your case, but if you have more than two of them it may be well worth getting the blood sugar tested. Heredity plays an important part in developing diabetes.
Adult onset diabetes generally refers to any of the several hereditary forms of the diabetes disease. These are caused by the mutation in an autosomal dominant gene which is inherited from any of the parents. The mutant gene disrupts insulin production and causes a problem of digesting blood sugar, which eventually leads to diabetes.
If your parents or grandparents have diabetes, it increases your chance of getting adult onset diabetes. So it may be a good idea to get a regular blood sugar test done to see if you have any high levels of blood glucose. Other symptoms include a weakening of eyesight, or a frequent need to urinate.
You may also get numbness in the limbs caused by nerve damage. Or it may manifest itself as a sharp pain in the arms or legs. The severity of the adult onset diabetes is determined by a number of factors and even if you do develop diabetes you can control it and live a normal life.

This result is a feeling of numbness or weakness in the limbs. it can also result in pulling pain in the arms and legs which is very painful. The damaged nerves may also cause harm to other important organs such as the heart, digestive tract and even the sex organs.

With diabetes there is a way to reverse it. Since the cause of diabetes is the body’s inability to generate or use correct amounts of insulin, there is not much that can be done to physiologically alter the body through medication. Diabetes is a condition which needs to be controlled and managed so that it does not go out of hand.
To naturally control diabetes should be the aim of the diabetic, so that he or she does not have to resort to regular medication. This natural control is possible if the diabetic is willing to change the way they exercise and eat. It is important to see that you do not add foods to your diet which increase the blood sugar levels in your body.
So eating foods that help speed up the metabolism and reduce the amount of blood sugar makes more sense. Also it is better to eat four or five smaller meals in the day rather than eat a couple of big meals. This way the surge in blood glucose experienced right after a meal can be controlled and reduced.
Another way to reduce the glucose in the blood is by using it to create energy when you exercise. That is why it is so important to have a fixed health care and exercise regime when you are a diabetic. These two factors help keep diabetes under natural control.

Diabetes is one of the most common lifestyle diseases in the world today. With more emphasis on junk food and less on exercise, obesity is on the rise. Along with obesity comes type 2 diabetes where the body is unable to process all the sugars that it eats. This reflects on the body in a number of ways.
The most common problem is the effect on the eyes. People with diabetes tend to have weaker eyesight. The retina can be damaged of scarred because blood vessels in the back of the eye balloon out into pouches. The accumulation of excessive blood can cause lack of vision in severe cases.
The kidney also gets affected by diabetes adversely. The kidney develops a leak where protein from the blood also get excreted with the urine. This will eventually weaken the kidney functioning to such an extent that dialysis may be required.
Heat is also affected by diabetes as the excessive blood sugar present in the blood causes blockages in the blood vessels. This cause additional strain on the heart muscles to pump the blood and circulate it to all organs in the body. It leads to hypertension in many cases when people suffer from diabetes.
